Escape

For my mixtape, I decided to make a running playlist. As much as I love running I need motivation to do it and keep me going once I start. For that reason, I decided to only pick songs which encourage and excite me.

Running provides a certain escape for me that no other activity does. It is a time where I can think about the way I am truly feeling and not worry about anyone else’s opinion. Running helps me find my voice and the way I feel about certain issues in my life. I never know what I am going to get out of running. Not only does running help me learn about myself but it also is a way of seeing new places and spending time with the people I love. My dad and I like going on runs together and during that time we create memories we wouldn’t otherwise have. Furthermore, although I am listening to music while I run, I am disconnecting and taking a break from social media and school work which is often needed.

Sometimes it is hard to start running because I am tired or lazy but once I do it, I am so much happier. This playlist provides that push I need to begin that run. I wanted a mix of old and new songs and English and Spanish songs which I know and love. All the songs have a different beat and pace which will help me not get bored.

This assignment made realize how much I love running and  has made me appreciate what it does for me.
